2-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots, Injures Herself

A 2-year-old girl has been injured in an accidental shooting in Rutherford County.

Authorities with the Smyrna Police Department said they responded to the call around 10:53 a.m. Saturday at a home on Snowbird Drive.

According to reports, a 2-year-old was able to gain access to a pistol in her home. Officials said she accidentally shot herself and was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Saturday afternoon, officers confirmed the child’s injuries were not life-threatening. She was listed in stable condition.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The incident remained under investigation. Reports said all evidence was being given to the Rutherford County District Attorney's Office for evaluation.
