A fight that led to a stabbing in front of a local business has turned fatal.

Authorities said the incident happened around 9:45 a.m. Saturday in front of Auto Zone in the 3400 block of Dickerson Pike.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Charles Wade. Police confirmed he was stabbed by 38-year-old Charles Hodge.

Officials said Wade and Hodge were acquaintances who did not like each other. They added Wade was walking to work Saturday morning when he encountered Hodge who was working on his vehicle. That’s when the two started arguing.

Police said Hodge pulled out a knife and slashed Wade during the fight, which caused a laceration to Wade’s head.

Authorities said Hodge fled the scene, went to his home, and called police to report the fight.

Employees and customers at Auto Zone attempted to render aid to Wade and called 911.

Wade was taken to Skyline Medical Center where he passed away Saturday night.

Officials said Hodge was being cooperative and had not been charged. They were investigating his claim of self-defense.
