NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — While some businesses have struggled during this winter storm, others have thrived.

"We're in a little festive mood with the snow so we wanted to make spiked hot chocolate so we had to come out and get some peppermint Schnapps to do that," said Sage Ness accompanied by her friend Vanessa Clark. Both students braved the cold to purchase their alcohol.

Several liquor stores we spoke with said sales have stayed consistent, if not increased, in the last few days.

Owner Ed Fryer of Village Liquors in Hillsboro said business is booming despite the weather. Sales are double those of a normal day at the store.
Everyone from college students with canceled classes to those off work are keeping warm with a libation.

Fryer said the most popular purchases are spiked seltzers and beer. "Man business has been absolutely off the charts incredible. We had no clue what to expect but I would say at least double- I haven't had time to check the numbers we got out of here and honestly I was just worn out yesterday, but it's incredible," he said.

Fryer said the store plans to stay open as long as possible, but with some adjusted hours.
