Representative Jim Cooper held a meeting in Nashville to bring awareness to how the state's voter ID law impacts Tennessee.

He said laws like ones in the volunteer state's actually hurts the vote.

At Tuesday's event, he said Tennessee's law is the most restrictive and that it targets the poor and downtrodden.

Yet, he said you can combat the issue by going to the polls. Laws similar to our voter ID law have been overturned in North Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas.
