Lady Vols head coach, Holly Warlick, held a press conference following the death of former coach and sports legend Pat Summitt.

She explained that even though it was a sad day, it was also a very joyous day because she was in a better place. She then said she was surprised and glad to see so many community members honoring her at the Summitt Plaza statue.

"I just think people are paying their respects in the best way they know to do," Warlick said.

Once the news of her passing broke, many current and former players reached out to Warlick and each other to comfort one another. "I think pat would be glad to know that this group of lady vols are really caring for each other."

She told stories of Summitt's competitive nature on and off the court as well as the impact she had on the people around her.

"She was just competitive in everything she did and had a tremendous sense of humor. I think what I would tell coaches is what Pat has taught me is that, it's not about you. It's not about you. It's about what you're doing for these young women that you promised your parents you would take care of," Warlick said. "Yeah you're going to make them better basketball players, but how are they gonna develop off of the court? Are they goning to get their degree? Those are important things, and I think of all the things that Pat did, she put women first."
