Celebrity, Kim Kardashian-West, has promised to pay five years of rent for former Tennessee inmate, Matthew Charles.

Charles was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 1996 for selling cocaine.

After repealing his sentence Charles was a free man in 2016, but his second chance was short lived. Two years later, a judge ordered him to return to prison and finish the rest of his 35 year sentence.
That changed last December, President Trump signed the First Step Act which led to Charles' release from prison again.

Kardashian-West has fought for the release of inmates in the past, and for Charles, she's offered to help him start a new life. Once he finds a place to live, she promised to help pay rent for the next five years.

According to the Associated Press, Charles said she's not doing it to get attention, but he just had to share the good news.

He attended this year's State of the Union address at President Donald Trump's invitation.
