Students at John Overton High School headed back to class Wednesday, two days after their original start date.
Last week, Metro Nashville Schools announced students would not start on Monday due to ongoing construction.

This summer, the school underwent phase two of a two-year, $40 million renovation because of aging infrastructure.
Officials said delaying the opening of Overton by two days would give the school’s staff the time they need to prepare for the new year.
Students will makeup these two days on December 12-15, which are district-wide half-days for students.
These will now be full school days for Overton High School students.
