NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A deadly single-car crash on Briley Parkway near Two Rivers Parkway Wednesday resulted in the death of a girl, a 14-year-old who attended Hunters Lane High School.
Nancy Mariela Choc died in the crash, and her family has set up a GoFundMe for her funeral expenses.
A 17-year-old who was driving the vehicle will be charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and two counts of aggravated assault when he is discharged from the hospital.
Police responded to the scene around 11:50 a.m. Investigations showed that the 17-year-old was traveling at an "extremely fast speed" when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wood line.
He showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking four beers before the crash.
Two other teen passengers — a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl — have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Metro police believe three of the four people in the car went to Hunters Lane High School and another attended Republic High School.
"Our heart goes out to the family of the student who died in the crash and we are hoping for a speedy recovery for the injured students. Social workers will be on hand at Hunters Lane to provide grief counseling for any students or staff who need it," police said.
No information about the condition of the three teens or the identity of the deceased is available at this time.
