NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A heat advisory is in effect for our Western counties (shaded in orange) until 7 p.m. The heat index for this area is expected to be near 105 throughout the afternoon. Storms in Illinois will bring some brief relief from the heat later this afternoon.
A line of strong storms moving out of Illinois will move into Tennessee between 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday night. The storms have a history of damaging straight line wind and may bring some gusty wind with them into Tennessee. The general trend will be for the storms to weaken as they sink South.
The Storm Prediction Center maintains a slight risk for our Kentucky counties and a marginal risk for some of our Tennessee counties with damaging wind the main concern, some small hail is also possible.
