NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Interstate 440 near Murphy Road has reopened following an accident that happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Officer Sundra was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment and is expected to be OK. The 28-year-old is a five-year veteran of the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Metro police said the driver of the pickup truck, 40-year-old James Smith, is facing charges of aggravated vehicular assault and felony reckless endangerment. He will be taken into custody after he is discharged from the hospital.

Police said Smith showed signs of impairment, so a search warrant has been issued for a blood sample from him.
