A Goodlettsville homeowner was shot at nearly a dozen times after confronting two men who were trying to break into his car.

The incident happened overnight Wednesday at a residence on Gates Road.

A woman who lives at the home said she heard her dogs barking around 1:15 a.m. Her husband went outside to check it out and saw a man sitting in a car while another was trying to break into their vehicle.

Officials said the suspects spotted the homeowner and got into a stolen Toyota 4Runner. As they were fleeing, they fired at least 10 shots.

Officers found at least nine shell casings on the ground. The homeowner was not hurt.

Goodlettsville police said this could be the same vehicle spotted during attempted break-ins in the Madison area overnight.

However, it’s unclear at this point if the cases are connected.

Anyone with information should call police.
