Here's a look at the new Tennessee laws that went into effect July 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Several new laws, ranging from sports gambling to block grants, took effect on July 1. Here's a look at the new laws you should know about.

Online sports gambling
Gaming commission will be created and made up of nine members; bets only accepted from a bettor who is physically located in state of TN.

Block Grants
Allows the state to ask the federal government for a lump sum to create a new health care system.

Driving with Cell Phones Ban
Bans using handheld devices while driving in the State of Tennessee.

Bathroom Bill
Redefines "public place" for purposes of the offense of indecent exposure to include a restroom, locker room, dressing room, or shower designated for multi-person, single-sex use.

Alzheimer's Advisory Council
Creates a statewide Alzheimer's Advisory Council which will study the impacts of the disease on the state and its residents.

Voter Registration
Penalizes paid voter registration groups with fines for too many incomplete sign-up forms and criminal penalties for submitting registration forms too late.

Real ID Driver Licenses Issued
The REAL ID Act of 2005 establishes minimum security standards for license issuance and production and prohibits Federal agencies from
accepting for certain purposes driver licenses and identification cards from states not meeting the Act’s minimum standards. Beginning
October 1, 2020, all persons must have a REAL ID license for accessing Federal buildings, entering nuclear facilities, and boarding federally
regulated commercial aircraft. This law is secure way for citizens to protect their identities.
