Posted

New information has been released about the man accused of using a hatchet to kill his former employer.

Authorities said the suspect, Domenic Micheli, reportedly tried to buy a gun in the days before the attack.

Micheli used a hatchet to brutally attack and murder Joel Paavola at Balance Training in Belle Meade on the morning of Tuesday, June 5.

On May 30, Micheli tried to buy a gun in Williamson County, according to officials, but he was rejected by the background check.

Kentucky State Police caught up with him on Interstate 65 north near Bowling Green and arrested him one day after the murder of Paavola.

Micheli is now behind bars in Davidson County.
