NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Glengarry Elementary School went on a lock out Wednesday afternoon due to police activity in the area.

A Metro Schools spokesperson said the school is waiting for law enforcement to give the all clear.

Metro police said a man was shot near the school in the 400 block of Glenpark Drive. He was shot in the chest by a woman who lives in the home and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The woman was arrested.

Students were safely taken off of school buses and brought back into the school.

The lock out was lifted just after 3:30 p.m.

During a lockout, school activity remains normal but no one from outside the campus will be allowed inside.
