The former homeless camp in South Nashville, Fort Negley, has officially been cleared.

Last week, officers issued citations to the homeless still living in Fort Negley after a no camping rule was enforced.

Mayor Megan Barry said they have taken steps to make sure those removed from the area have somewhere to go, but one of those looking for a home said there's nothing available.

"My social worker went online and she looked up section 8 for us and printed out everything you see and it says waiting list. There's nothing available,” said Cindy Leaf.

The mayor said the space at Fort Negley was cleared for public walking trails and an outdoor classroom for the Adventure Science Center.
