A Franklin sidewalk project is expected to create a 4,000-foot pathway from Murfreesboro Road at Mack Hatcher to Pinkerton Park in Franklin.
It's something city officials said would benefit more than just the residents who live near the construction zone.
"Pumpkin Fest will be at the end of month, Dickens of a Christmas is a very popular festival," said City Administrator Eric Stuckey. "We bring literally 100,000 people to downtown over a weekend to enjoy the festival and there's so much traffic, folks sometimes have to park in satellite areas. This will give them a great way to walk in on the sidewalk."
Franklin will invest $1.5 million in the project, which took about three years to create.
Stuckey said construction was set to be completed before the end of the year.
