NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The flu has forced at least two school districts in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky to close.
Todd County, Kentucky schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. Clay County is the other district that will be closed Thursday, Friday and Monday because too many people are sick. This also means all extra-curricular activities and practices are canceled, as well.
Todd County Schools told WHOP Radio 10% of its students were absent yesterday, 20 substitute teachers were called in, and seven positions went uncovered because substitutes weren’t available. School officials also noted three of the district’s four principals have the flu.
In response, all buildings at Todd County campuses will be cleaned thoroughly before students return to school. They also encourage families to make sure they clean and disinfect their student's belongings while they are at home.
