NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An apparent fish spill has caused major traffic congestion along Interstate 40 East at the I-65 split in downtown Nashville.
Piles of dead fish were seen scattered along the roadway, not far from the Adventure Science Center. The incident has caused significant traffic delays in the area.
Many commuters were able to snap a picture of the fishy situation, which showed numerous fish in the middle of the road. It was unknown what caused the fish to spill onto the interstate.
Crews were using bulldozers to scrape up the piles of dead fish and dump them on the side of the road.
It wasn't known how long it would take to fully clean up the mess.
Eastbound lanes of I-40 were briefly closed while officials remained on the scene.
Drivers were advised to seek an alternate route.
