A total of 26 firefighters graduated from the Nashville Fire Department Training Academy.

Friday's ceremony was held at the Al Menah Shrine Temple on Brick Church Pike. The 26 grads trained some-1,000 hours over 26 weeks.

Nashville Fire Director Chief Swann says their dedication is something greatly needed in the community.

"One of the unique things about the fire department is we make every call that is given, whether its a shooting, a stabbing, a homicide, a suicide, drowning, fires. One of the fire department members is going to be there. What greater career or calling to be a public servant and that's what these guys are; so it's a great day," said Swann.

All graduated are licensed EMTs and Firefighters.
