MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — A warehouse in Mt. Juliet that was previously damaged in the March 3 tornado caught fire on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters are battling a large fire at the building, which is off Athletes Way N. and owned by Ceva Logistics.

Mt. Juliet Fire Chief Jamie Luffman said the fire broke out around 1:40 p.m. from a tornado debris pile at the warehouse were a bunch of batteries were collected together.

When firefighters arrived, the fire was about 75 square-feet. Due to high wind, flames were blown into the destroyed building where racks of products caught fire.

Luffman said the wind contributed to the fire's rapid growth.

Residents are asked to avoid the area.

Heavy, toxic smoke from the fire could be seen on Interstate 40.
