Fans, fun and Football during NFL Draft

NASHVILLE, Tenn (WTVF) — Football fans are still celebrating the first day of the NFL Draft and they tell say they're having the time of their lives. Thursday kicked off the first day of the NFL Draft and people came all over the country to join in on the celebrations in downtown.

“We're going to kill it this year, we got it, we're here, we're in Nashville, we got the party going,” said Titans fan Christian Bell.

It was all fans, fun and football as people gathered on Broadway and to many this was a first-time experience.

“We're having a blast, this is really a great experience; I never experienced an NFL Draft before,” said Tom Finneran.

While folks like Scott Baun said they’ve experienced the draft before, but Baun says it's still a very exciting event.

“I went to Dallas and now in Tennessee,” said Baun.

More than 100,000 fans all across the country partying in Music City for the 2019 NFL Draft. Some traveling near while others telling NewsChannel 5 they came as far as New Jersey to be here

Fans cheered from the roof tops and hundreds of others flooded the streets below where arch sports rivals became fast friends.

However, a good first round draft pick could make this night much sweeter.

“Anybody that's going to go from the University of Oregon who's going to go to a good team,” said Finneran, a huge Oregon fan and alum.

Fans showed team spirit wearing jerseys, others in costumes and few with a more permanent approach.

But, in the end, it's a celebration these fans say they will never forget.

“To be back in Tennessee and to have this here is a special moment for me because I'm 50 years old and it's the 100th anniversary of the NFL; you can't get no special this,” said Mickey Sanders.

Festivities will pickup again all weekend.
