CADIZ, Ky. – Engineers were expected to return to the site where a woman was killed when her vehicle was swept away by flood waters in southern Kentucky. A portion of the road was completely washed out by the flooding.
A 40-foot-stretch of Blackhawk Road near Cadiz collapsed late Tuesday night from heavy rains.
Nancy Fox was killed when her vehicle was swept away by the rushing waters. Her vehicle was located submerged and upside down less than a mile away from the area.
The 61-year-old’s body was recovered early Thursday morning.
According to authorities, her son, Trigg County Rescue Squad Chief Barry Fox, was among those who assisted in the recovery effort.
Blackhawk Road was blocked about a half mile on each side. The road will likely be closed for months while repairs are being made.
Kentucky was expected to request emergency funding to help with the cost.
