SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WTVF) — An Electrolux employee was shot and killed in the parking lot of the facility Monday, and police are searching for the gunman.

Officers responded to the parking lot and found Heather Kirkwood, of Clarksville, on the ground with gunshot wounds; she died at the scene, according to a press release from Springfield Police Chief Jason Head.

Initially reported by Smokey Barn News, the shooting happened just before 7 p.m.

Springfield Police are searching for 38-year-old Anthony T. Brown of Dickson. Officials said he fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger.

Brown has an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder. Police said at this time, it's not clear how he knew the victim, but added this was not a random act of violence.

Any information about the incident or the suspect was asked to call Springfield Police Department Detective Andrew Johnson at 615-384-8422.

Electrolux officials released the following statement:

“We are heartbroken about our team member’s death. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and we want to support them as much as possible. We have chosen to close the factory this evening and will resume operations tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14, 1st shift. Should any employee need support, we will have Employee Assistance services available tomorrow.”
