MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Rutherford County emergency agencies used drones to find a woman lost in a wooded area of the county.
Deputies were called to a home off of U.S. Highway 41 for a reported "distraught woman who ran into [the] wooded area" in freezing temperatures.
Due to the weather, detectives launched two drones to search for her. Assistant Director Tim Hooker of the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency said Rutherford County Fire Rescue also launched a drone to search. They found her in a heavily wooded area about 1,900 feet from the launch site.
The drone pilots guided deputies and the Special Operations Response Team to quickly rescue the woman. She was transported to StoneCrest Medical Center’s emergency room for an evaluation.
