FRANKFURT, Ky. (WTVF — Republican Senator Mitch McConnell will retain his seat after defeating Democratic challenger Amy McGrath on Tuesday.
McConnell, who was seeking a seventh term, is the longest-serving U.S. senator for Kentucky in history. In 2018, he became the longest-serving leader of U.S. Senate Republicans in history.
McGrath, a former fighter pilot who rose to national prominence in her failed campaign for Congress against Republican Andy Barr, announced her bid for the U.S. Senate in 2019.
