NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro School leaders and staff officially dedicated one of the district's newest schools August 26.
Re-opening Waverly-Belmont Elementary in the 12 South community involved the restoration and expansion of an historic 1937 school located in a fast-growing urban neighborhood.
While contractors worked to preserve much of the buildings historic elements, the school has been anything but old fashioned, as it was filled with tons of new technology to give students the best education possible.
"This building is part of the 12 South neighborhood's history,” said Chris Henson, Metro Schools Interim Director. “Today as we officially dedicate Waverly Belmont Elementary School, we can look forward knowing it's now going to play an important role in this neighborhood's future as well."
Officials have been set to officially dedicate Smith Springs Elementary School on Friday.
