An old church in East Nashville may soon turn into a hotel.
Life Church International on 819 Russell Street is seeking a re-zoning change that would allow for a small hotel.
A few weeks ago members of the community sat down with the man who has shown interest in purchasing it, they told NewsChannel 5 that as of now, his idea is to turn the historic church into a boutique 18-room hotel.
It survived the tornado that ripped through East Nashville in 1998, but it's history in the community dates back much farther than that.
It's believed the church was built and opened its doors to church goers in 1905, but for the last several years its been up for sale.
So far, the church is up for sale for nearly $2.2 million. It's slated to be sold along with the parking lot across the street.
NewsChannel 5 tried to reach the potential buyer but didn't hear back.
