MADISON, Tenn. (WTVF) — It's the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most stressful.

"I actually wasn't able to pay for my layaway, so I was trying to figure out how to leave my layaway here and how my daughter is going to have a Christmas," Amber Moore said.

To make it a little less stressful, Cottonelle partnered with Pay Away the Layaway to give $21,000 to help pay off the Walmart layaway debt of more than 100 families.

Families picked up their layaway gifts Saturday afternoon at the Gallatin Pike North Walmart in Madison.

"I feel really blessed," said Mildred Cunningham. "It's nice to have people out here and do things like this in this time of need."

This year has been especially tough on families because of the COVID-19 pandemic. People have been laid off, furloughed, and struggling to make ends meet.

With Christmas less than a week away, a Christmas miracle was exactly what they needed.

"I'm really excited because I was sad and Christmas is next week and i have all this stuff on layaway," Moore said. "I've always seen stuff on the news but didn't know this is going to happen to me so finally something good happen to me."
