Another day, another potential Tennessee head football coach turning down the Vols. According to numerous reports, NC State head coach Dave Doeren turned down the job as the Vols head coach.

Doeren emerged as a top candidate after UT was turned down by Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy and Purdue's Jeff Brohm. Numerous reports have said UT made an offer to Doeren on Thursday, but he turned it down after NC State offered him a raise and a contract extension. Several Vol fans voiced their displeasure of Doeren's candidacy, citing his record in the ACC.

Tennessee Athletic Director John Currie and his staff were said to be turning their attention toward former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin. Several reports said the Vols were planning to meet with Sumlin on Thursday. Sumlin went 51-26 in six years with the Aggies.
