A death row inmate convicted of murder in Shelby County died of natural causes.
Gary Bradford Cone was convicted of bludgeoning to death an elderly Memphis couple, Shipley and Cleopatra Todd, during a robbery in 1980.
He said he was under the influence of drugs during the murder, a habit developed after returning from the Vietnam War.
The 68-year-old was convicted of armed robbery, assault with intent to murder and two counts of first degree murder and sentenced to death in in 1982.
