Deadly Murfreesboro shooting investigation leads to multi-vehicle crash

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was killed and another injured in a Murfreesboro double shooting on Labor Day.

Officers responded to the report of a shooting on the 4800 block of Laura Jeanne Boulevard just before noon Monday. They 18-year-old Keldrick Maurice Moore dead in the parking lot. Moore graduated from Stewarts Creek High School in May and was getting ready to join the U.S. Air Force.

"To hear your child is declared decease is very shocking," said Shakeya Fielder, Moore's mom. "I just wouldn't have thought I would get that phone call."

Also, a Rutherford County Medical Emergency Services ambulance was flagged down by people on Florence Road near Manson Pike because a 17-year-old man in their car had also been shot. They began treating him and rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was later released from the hospital.

Officers then detained and interviewed the passengers as witnesses; they released shortly after.

THP troopers and a Rutherford County deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle. Officials say they "intercepted" the vehicle which then crashed, causing three other vehicles to collide at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Thompson Lane.

The driver and a passenger were arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. Police officials they were both juveniles - one 16 years old and the other 17 years old. Both are in custody at the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.
