PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. (WTVF) — A portion of Interstate 24 West has reopened near Pleasant View following a deadly crash.
The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. Thursday near Maxey Road. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a tractor-trailer and a white pickup truck were involved in the wreck.
THP said the pickup truck hit the back of the tractor-trailer, which was stopped in the lane due to a traffic backup. The pickup truck attempted to switch lanes to avoid the crash but was unsuccessful.
The driver of the pickup truck, 35-year-old Christopher Akins, was killed.
