Man killed in Antioch drive-by shooting; marks Metro's first homicide of 2020

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police have identified a 28-year-old man who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Antioch.

The shooting was reported at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night on Hickory Highlands Drive in Antioch.

Metro police said Golden Hairston was talking to another man in the parking lot when a black SUV pulled up. Someone in the vehicle fired shots, hitting Hairston. Police said the other man fired shots at the SUV as it sped away.

Hairston was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

The shooting marked Metro Nashville's first homicide of 2020. Overall, Metro police saw about an 8% reduction in violent crime in 2019 -- specifically in the South Precinct, where last night’s shooting happened. They actually saw almost 44% less homicides in 2019.
