NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A grassroots group focused on restoring fatherhood and encouraging men to be better fathers held its annual softball tournament in Hadley Park.
Dads Against Destruction (DADs) met Saturday for the Third Annual Father/Son Softball game.
More than 11 teams participated for a change to take home first, second, and third place trophies.
Organizers said the tournament was more than just winning games but to strengthen relationships with fathers and their sons.
"If the man stepped up there would be less people down in juvenile. I just believe that cause a lot of our men we're not going to allow our kids to do what's going on --- the car thefts, the burglaries, the carrying the guns we don't do that. Not no man, you're not going to do that in my house. It's time to do our part," Phil Hawkins said.
Hawkins was born and raised in Nashville and has seen the community changed. He said there has been great strives happening but more needs to be done.
