Curb Records matches Taylor Swift donation to TEP

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Curb Records made a major impact in Tennessee's LGBT community by matching Taylor Swift's $113,000 donation to the Tennessee Equality Project.

The money is used to fight the so-called "slate of hate," which is a collection of bills critics say would discriminate against the LGBT community.

In a statement, the label likened the bills to the bathroom bill in North Carolina, saying the proposed legislation would hurt business.

“As a former elected official, a Republican and a Christian, and as founder and Chairman of Curb Records and the Curb Foundation, I cannot believe that our legislators would put our brand new Governor in a position to have to consider potentially discriminatory legislation that could involve taxpayer funds," said Mike Curb. "In support of Curb’s position, the company will match Taylor Swift’s generous donation of $113,000 to TEP. The gift has special importance because Curb opposes any form of discrimination, including any proposed law that takes equal rights from any group."
