NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Crews broke ground Tuesday on the new Saint Thomas Behavioral Health Hospital in Nashville.

The 76-bed treatment facility will be located in Metro Center and will create more than 200 jobs.

According to a release, the impatient hospital will have “dedicated adult and geriatric units, offering a wide range of programs to better serve these populations.”

Saint Thomas officials hope it will fill a void in behavior health treatment for adults in Nashville.

“Giving people in our city access to another first-class hospital with highly trained staff will make Nashville an even stronger, more caring, and safer place for all of us,” Mayor David Briley said. “This hospital will provide residents with the care they deserve, and I thank Ascension Saint Thomas and Acadia for partnering to make it possible.”

The facility will provide access to all levels of care, including inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient services, traditional clinic services, residential care and opioid addiction treatment programs.

The hospital is set to open fall 2020.
