MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Murfreesboro residents will soon have a new opportunity to buy in bulk after the county approved a Costco store.
The Rutherford County Industrial Development Board approved a deal with the retailer providing tax incentives to build a store in the city Wednesday.
Costco was given a $992,000 tax break spread over five years in the deal.
The city says the economic benefit for providing the property tax relief will come in the form of annual sales tax revenue based on a projected $130 million in annual taxable sales.
The store will open off New Salem Highway and Warrior Drive in the West Point business subdivision. It will employ 225 people with yearly wages ranging from $49,920 to $60,000.
An opening date has not yet been set.
