People had the chance to meet the officer who keep them safe each day during in a family-friendly community event - West Nashville Night Out Against Crime.

The annual Night Out was held Tuesday night to encourage officers' relationships with community members.

On hand were representatives of the Metro Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Also there was the Nashville Library and candidates for the November election.

"It builds a sense of community, vs. just showing up and knowing what's right around your immediate home. Now, you have a feeling of, it's encompassing. You know people on your street, you know people a few streets over," said Sgt. Steve Linn.

A presentation on neighborhood security cameras with new information was also held.
