Columbia Man Arrested For Marijuana, Sawed-Off Shotgun

A Columbia, Tennessee man was arrested following a traffic stop in Warren County, Kentucky.

Officials with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said they took 28-year-old Michael McMurry into custody following the incident on Louisville Road.

Authorities said McMurry pulled out of Old Porter Pike in front of a deputy, leading to the traffic stop.

The deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana and could see a sawed-off shotgun in plain view on the passenger side.

McMurry gave consent to search the vehicle, and the deputy discovered marijuana and Xanax pills. Both of those, along with the shotgun, were seized.

McMurry was arrested and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.

He was charged with the following:

  • Operating motor vehicle under the influence drugs or alcohol 1st offense
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Trafficking controlled substance 3rd degree
  • 1st offense possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession controlled substance 3rd degree, drug unspecified
  • Possession of a defaced firearm
  • No registration
  • Failure to produce insurance card
