NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Some of the biggest names in country music walked the "blue" carpet at the 2019 CMT Music Awards.

The star-studded event was held inside Bridgestone Arena, one day before the CMA Music Festival gets underway in downtown Nashville.

Even fans who can't be inside are still in for a treat. Popular duo Dan + Shay performed outside the arena, as well as Kane Brown and Toby Keith.

Meanwhile, artists including Kelsea Ballerini and Keith Urban took the stage inside. Tuesday night, Urban rehearsed for his performance of "We Were."

The most awarded artist in CMT Music Award history, Carrie Underwood, just got back in town ready to perform as well.

"CMA Fest is all about people coming to our neck of the woods and partying with us and celebrating with us,” Underwood said. “I think ‘Southbound’ is such a great song to just say welcome, were still early in CMA Fest activities with the CMT awards. I kind of feel it's a good kickoff to everything this week.”

Underwood also performed for free at The Parthenon in Centennial Park as part of the show.
