CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Clarksville Gas and Water Department are living at the water treatment plant to make sure there's never an interruption in service during the COVID-19 crisis.

Officials say about four to five workers are staying at the plant for a week at a time.

CGW supplies them with cots, food and other necessities. Local restaurants like Blackhorse Pub & Brewery have also been treating employees to meals.

The water treatment plant, located on Pumping Station Road off the U.S. 41A Bypass, and does the critical job of treating water from the Cumberland River into the city - meaning the CGW workers are vital to the state's "Safer-at-Home" order.

However, with the order set to expire on April 30, workers will likely be able to return home and to a somewhat normal shift.
