NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 7-year-old child was seriously injured after he got stuck in a parking garage gate in Nashville.
Metro Nashville Police officials say the boy was playing on the exit gate of a basement garage at a Cayce Homes apartment when the child got caught in it.
The child grabbed onto the gate as it lifted him up, causing him to be rolled into the motor shaft at the top of the gate. A bystander saw him and called police. An officer who responded to the scene climbed on a vehicle to reach the boy and get him down.
The little boy was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officials say the child was at the playground adjacent to the garage when he slipped away from his caretakers for just a moment. That's when the accident happened.
