HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A child has been found safe after a Hendersonville amber alert. The child's non-custodial mother has been arrested.

Around 9 p.m. Friday, Hendersonville police say they received a report of a kidnapping of an 8-year-old, whose grandparents are his legal guardians.

The non-custodial mother of the child, Ashley Carter, went to their home to see him, before taking him against the will of the grandparents.

Early Saturday morning, officers learned Carter and the child were likely at a Bell Road area motel. They were found there, where Carter was arrested and the child was found safe.

Carter was booked into the Sumner County jail. Her court date and bond are not yet known.
