A woman has been caught red handed breaking into a Clarksville Apartment complex drop box, making off with stolen checks. Now Clarksville Police are hoping you can help identify the woman in the surveillance video.

If you look away for just a moment, you may miss it. That's how quickly a thief was able to break into a Clarksville drop box at an apartment complex when no one was looking.

But little did she know, it was all caught on camera.

"She pried it open. Cleaned it out. She got about $8 thousand worth of checks and money orders," said Jim Knoll, Clarksville Police.

Knoll says those stolen checks were all canceled but detectives are concerned she may strike again.

"Of course it's one of those things people always say, hide in plain sight and you wont really bring any attention to yourself. But she was pretty quick about it," said Knoll.

She was fast, but not fast enough to get away without revealing her face.

"I mean somebody's trying to get paid without actually having to work," said Knoll.

Now police are working to get the suspect behind bars.

Anyone with information on who the woman in the surveillance video is was asked to call Clarksville Police Sgt. Newman at 931-648-0656.
