FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — James Waller never imagined returning home to Fayetteville, Tennessee under these circumstances, forced to become a caretaker for his elderly mother.
James, is a retired Marine, but providing around the clock in home care for his mother Polly has been his hardest mission to date.
"It's a struggle. It hasn't been easy for me but you figure out a way to deal with it," he said.
Polly Jeter is suffering from the early stages of dementia. She also requires dialysis care almost daily. The retired 911 dispatcher has insurance but is still stuck with tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills.
"It's just a big burden to me, trying to worry about the bills. I worry that something might happen to her house," James said about his mom's debt.
