Bridge Repairs On I-65/I-40 Completed

Some people had to take a little extra time this weekend as they headed to downtown Nashville. A bridge repair project on a portion of Interstates 65 and 40 took place, but authorities with TDOT confirmed the work wrapped up early.

The repairs were scheduled to be completed by Monday at 6 a.m., but officials said they were completed on Sunday. As of Sunday afternoon, all lanes had reopened.

Friday night, crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation closed the ramp from I-65 North to I-40 West on the south loop of downtown.

The repairs were needed after a semi hit the overpass in April and caused a big traffic delay.

THP officials said the driver was cited on three misdemeanors. They added the driver did not have the proper permit from TDOT to drive through downtown with the type of load he had. Luckily no one was hurt.

This was the second of two projects to fix the bridge.
