A highly-anticipated bridge project in Murfreesboro has finally been completed and opened to drivers.
The Bridge over Broad was a project 20 years in the making and cost nearly $23 million.
One side of the bridge was officially opened, and the other side was scheduled to open at some point Saturday night.
The bridge was planned to allow traffic to flow from Old Fort Parkway to Memorial Boulevard more easily.
City leaders have been working to determine a name for the new bridge, and there’s a petition online. Council Member Rick LaLance has proposed "First Responders Memorial Bridge."
So far, almost 2,000 people have signed the petition asking for the official name of the bridge to be "Bridgey McBridgeface.”
