Officials in Cheatham County confirmed all schools have been placed under a lock-in.
The move was due to an email threat, and every school in the county were affected by the lock-in on Friday.
Details on the nature of the threat had not been released. Authorities said officers were sent to the schools to secure them.
The following statement was released by the Cheatham County School District:
"The Cheatham County School District’s first priority is the safety and well being of all students. The school district was notified of a threat by local law enforcement. The school district went on a lockdown to ensure our students were safe. All schools in Cheatham County are secure and we will continue to work with law enforcement during the investigation. All students are safe and law enforcement is present at all schools as a precaution. The school district will provide updates if needed."
All after school activities have been canceled. Day cares have been set to operate on normal hours.
School officials said parents have been welcomed to pick up their children if needed. They have been asked to follow normal check-out procedures.
