NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Legendary Titans quarterback Steve McNair's No. 9 Jersey was retired on Sunday during halftime of the team's home opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
The moment was made even more special when during the game fans looked up to see a cloud, shaped like the number 9, staring down at them.
McNair died back in 2009 when a a young woman, Sahel "Jenni" Kazemi, killed him in a murder-suicide.
McNair won the NFL co-MVP Award in 2003 and passed for more than 31,000 yards in his career.
Titans legend, Eddie George, also had his No. 27 jersey retired alongside his longtime teammate's today.
George was the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1996 and rushed for a franchise career record 10,000 yards.
The pair played together for eight seasons and came one yard short of winning Super Bowl XXXIV.
Unfortunately for Titans fans, the team didn't have either of them on the roster today as they lost to the Colts 19-17.
