DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities said a 26-year-old man has drowned in Douglas Lake after being found floating beyond a roped-off swimming area.
Multiple news outlets report the Sevier County Sheriff's Office was called to the lake around 4:40 p.m. Monday. Witnesses told deputies man had been swimming within the designated area. He went to the deepest end and then was found minutes later outside the swimming area.
Swimmers pulled the man, who wasn't wearing a flotation device, to shore. CPR was performed until emergency personnel responded.
The man was taken to LeConte Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the man's name will be released when family members have been notified. The drowning is under investigation.
